John Lithgow has confirmed his role as Dumbledore in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. In a discussion with Screenland, Lithgow shared that he will portray the headmaster of Hogwarts in a new television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s work, calling it a pivotal moment in his career.
“It took me by surprise,” he said. “I was at the Sundance Film Festival for another film, and it wasn’t an easy choice, as it marks a significant chapter in my life. However, I’m really looking forward to it. Many talented individuals are involved with the Harry Potter franchise, making this a tough decision. At about 87 years old, I still went for it.”
