Fancasting for the new HBO Harry Potter reboot is gaining momentum as fans are now discussing potential actors for the role of Remus Lupin. Originally portrayed by David Thewlis, Lupin is one of the most cherished characters in the Harry Potter universe.

Let’s take a nostalgic trip back to the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone trailer! Lupin, who was introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is renowned for being a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, particularly known for dealing with werewolves.

With the HBO reboot set to cast actors in line with J.K. Rowling’s original books, we can anticipate that our favorite characters will appear significantly younger. However, Lupin, at 38 years old, is still considered one of the youngest professors at Hogwarts, leaving the ideal actor for this iconic role uncertain.

Despite the ambiguity, some fans have already selected their favorites. One comment on R/Josalwyn expressed hope that Joe Alwyn would be cast as Remus Lupin, noting, “If Joe were to land an age-appropriate role as Remus in HBO’s Harry Potter series, it would be quite surprising. He possesses both gravity and charisma, which I think he could portray beautifully. Plus, his wonderful voice is a bonus… What do you all think?”

While Alwyn is recognized for his role in the 2018 film “Boy Erased,” he also gained media attention for his relationship with Taylor Swift. Other fans are echoing the excitement for this potential casting choice. One user responded, “I’ve never considered it, but it’s a fantastic idea. How can we get in touch with the casting team to support this?” Another commenter added, “This is a brilliant concept! I hadn’t thought of it before, but Joe would be an excellent Lupin!”

As of now, there hasn’t been any official casting announcements for HBO’s Harry Potter reboot, but filming is expected to commence soon, meaning it won’t be long before Alwyn potentially joins the cast.
