Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has shown interest in portraying Professor Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series. In a conversation with the Daily Telegraph, Brosnan addressed speculation about returning to the James Bond franchise, where he previously played MI6 Chief M, joking, “It’s crazy. Let’s see where fate leads us.”
He expressed a particular fondness for the role of Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter series, stating, “As my hair has turned gray and life’s experiences settle on my face and shoulders, I’ve always looked to Dumbledore.”
Brosnan also mentioned that he jokingly references Dumbledore in family conversations, relating it to his connection with the late Richard Harris, who portrayed Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films and was related to Brosnan through his late wife, Cassandra Harris. Although he finds the idea amusing, he admitted, “I don’t want to go there…especially right now, but if someone were to ask me (to take on that role), I would probably say yes.”
However, the likelihood of Brosnan taking on the role seems slim, as American actor John Lithgow has recently confirmed his casting as Dumbledore. Lithgow hinted at what to expect from the new series, explaining that Dumbledore is a character who only appears infrequently, suggesting the role may not be overly challenging.
