Fans of the Hunger Games are extremely upset, with some jokingly suggesting that if the casting details for key roles in the upcoming film “Sunrise in the Reaping,” slated for a November 2026 release, are leaked, director Francis Lawrence could end up facing his own Hunger Games.

Recently, film insider Daniel Richman reported that Ralph Fiennes – known for his role as Voldemort in the Harry Potter series and recently starring in “Conclave” – has been cast to portray the late Donald Sutherland’s character, Coriolanus Snow. While Fiennes is an accomplished actor with multiple Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, fans are left wondering what led to this casting choice.

Fans Prefer Kiefer Sutherland… or Alternatives!

In 2025, it seems fans are more concerned about their preferences than the industry choices. Many are taking to social media to voice their displeasure and are even considering boycotting the film due to the director’s decisions.

Many Hunger Games fans are particularly upset that Kiefer Sutherland, Donald’s son and a well-known actor himself, was not offered the role of his father.

There seems to be a split between those supporting #TeamKiefer and others just accepting the decision.

“His son is an actor who could embody the role just as well, so why hire someone else?” one fan expressed. Another added, “There’s someone who looks just like Mr. Sutherland available!”

Unyielding Fans Spark Controversy

It’s unclear whether Kiefer was approached for the role or declined it for some reason. He might already have commitments to another project or prefer to avoid overshadowing his father’s iconic portrayal of the character throughout the series. This begs the question of whether opting out allows Kiefer to preserve his father’s legacy.

These inquiries circulate as fans eagerly await clarity, yet there remains uncertainty about Ralph Fiennes truly being the chosen replacement for Donald Sutherland.

There is a growing culture of outrage, where people often react with anger without understanding the perspectives of those making the decisions. This could lead to significant issues for society in the years ahead, particularly when individuals realize that not everything revolves around their preferences.
