The Harry Potter TV series has officially cast its Hogwarts School of Magic and the role of the Principal of Magic. Recently, 79-year-old John Lithgow confirmed to ScreenRant that he accepted the role of Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s popular book series. A Hollywood reporter mentioned earlier this month that Lithgow had been in talks for the part.
The seasoned actor expressed, “It was a complete surprise for me. I was at the Sundance Film Festival for another film when I got the call. It wasn’t an easy choice for me to take on this role during the later stages of my career, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
