According to a new report on the deadline, actor John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s Harry Potter series. This news, as we last heard, is pretty surprising. HBO had circled British actor Mark Rylance for this role. But for some reason, it must have been resolved for some reason, because it was the trade report itself.
So get ready for the people in Lithgow’s British accent. Lithgow appears to be Dumbledore for all seasons in the Harry Potter series. In fact, Lithgow’s final Emmy was to play the legendary British Prime Minister Winston Churchill with the crown. With no concern about accents, Lithgow can pull it apart.
This is what trade reports,
“The beloved actor is poised to play the beloved Harry Potter character. Six-time Emmy Award winner John Lithgow is known for his famous HBO for his extremely popular fantasy book. He is taking part in final negotiations to portray Professor Albus Dumbledore in the series’ adaptation, sources say at the deadline.
‘HBO declined to comment. “We are grateful that such a high-profile series will elicit a lot of rumors and speculation,” the network said in a statement. “When you go through pre-production, we only check the details when you complete the transaction.”
For reference, the same response was given for Rylance, so keep that in mind.

Interesting choices are not something that fans think they’ve guessed. The Rylance appears to fit better on paper. However, we don’t doubt Lithgow’s incredible acting abilities. The guy always offers every role I’ve ever seen, even when the role isn’t all. One thing I want to see at Dumbledore is seeing eyes that he knows more than he admits. That was true for both Richard Harris and Michael Gambon. I think it’s all good because both Rylance and Lithgow can perform that level of performance.
