Hollywood has a way of not being that pointless by casting who wants to be a role in a movie or TV show on major IP. Usually there is a breadcrumb trail where you can go back to some previous projects that will help you understand why you were chosen for a particular actor. The main example was the news about this week’s legendary character actor John Lithgow. Announced by Variety on February 12th, the beloved actor is approaching a deal to assume the role of Dumbledore in the upcoming HBO series that brings us back into the world of Harry Potter.

The powerful Dumbledore is the principal of the Hogwarts Wizards School and the leader of the Order of Phoenix, whose Archnemesis is the dark and evil wizard Voldemort. Interestingly, there was a sixth time between Lithgow and Voldemort, which could have been the connection that gave him a gig.

Conclave has won eight Oscar nominations for upcoming award shows. It’s a movie that you don’t feel surprised if it’s a night sleeper. The film centers around the new Pope’s choices, everything that is revealed, and many dark secrets within the halls of the Vatican. If the secret is revealed, they can shake the nucleus of the Roman Catholic Church. Lithgow plays a major supporter as the Canadian Cardinal’s Joseph Trembray Cardinal, who uses infectious appeal to advance the selection process.

Like many top tier casting directors in Hollywood, they’re always looking, and when you look at Lithgow on the other side of Fiennes, the wheel must be spinning. Moreover, he is no stranger to bringing engaging supportive performances on famous television shows due to the widespread coverage of Lithgow’s resume.

You need to study John Lithgow’s career on television

If so, he’s very persuasive as an action film villain starring things like Sylvester Stallone and Denzel Washington, flipping the script and squealing aliens on Earth in NBC’s laughing-out sitcom 3rd rock Imagine playing from the sun. Since then, with a new era of VOD and streaming on the rise, he played perhaps one of the most vicious serial killers in Showtime’s original Dexter run. Finally, he returns and gives one of the best portrayals of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill on Netflix’s The Crown. During all of that, Lithgow dialed some solid work to support his role elsewhere.

Taking on the role of Dumbledore may be his greatest role. Still, what makes you wonder is how decisions are made in Hollywood. With two great actors in one film, I wonder if one or both can work in another film. Fiennes was approached to reprise the role of VoldeMort, a role that many believe is suitable for him, but what by stating who he thinks should take on that part? I also biased that.

As for Lithgow, it may be wise to bring things to form, even if Dumbledore still can’t stand up completely and see him in full. The actor is a two-time Oscar nominee and has won six Emmy Awards. It’s very good that he knows what he’s doing.
