The legendary Cespian was offered the role of the iconic principal of Hogwarts, but he decided that he “can’t.”

Ian McKellen reveals that after the original Wizard passed away he was offered the role of Dumbledore in Harry Potter, but despite his interest in the part, he shockedly refused. I did.

Cespian (85), known for his mysterious portrayal of Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, was called by the boss of the film to replace Richard Harris after his death.

However, the award-winning British actor explains that he was unable to step into the shoes of the principal at Hogwarts due to the humiliation Harris had done while he was alive, and offers I decided to refuse.

When he quized during an episode of BBC’s hard talk, he made this clear: They didn’t say what part… I solved what they were thinking, and I couldn’t.

He continued: “I couldn’t take that part from an actor who knew I didn’t approve of me.”

The stage legend mentioned comments by the Dumbledore actor. He described Ian’s acting style as “technically great but unpassionate.”

The Star of Hamlet continued to laugh about the controversy during the lighthearted interview, joking that he played “The Real Wizard” in the epic film series Lord of the Rings.

When the journalist said: “So you could have been Dumbledore!” he replied jokingly: “Well, when you see a poster of Mike Gambon, an actor who played Dumbledore brilliantly, sometimes it’s. I think it’s me!” he said.

Irish actor Richard Harris played the iconic professor in his first two magical films, Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

After his death at 72 in 2002, the role was acquired and was eventually taken over by BAFTA award-winning Michael Gambon.

He has the next six films: Harry Potter and Azkaban, Harry Potter, Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter, Phoenix, Harry Potter, Harry Brad Prince, and Part 1 and Two Harry Potter and Death of the hidden treasure.

Gambon passed away in September 2023 at the age of 82, and the role of the wizard at Hogwarts has been reopened.

That same year, HBO announced that it was making the mystical tale into a brand new television series to explore all the details that have been missed in the film.

The much-anticipated show will begin filming this summer at Laceden at Warner Bros Studios in Hertfordshire, the same location as the eight other films were made.

As fans brush their teeth with anticipation, the official cast has yet to be announced, but rumors have spread as to who will be doning Dumbledore’s cloak once more.

John Lithgow, Christopher Ecclestone and Mark Strong are all rumored to play legendary wizards.
