HBO is developing a television series inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, intending to adapt one book each season. While there has been much speculation about the casting, details about the principal characters, Harry Potter and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, remain uncertain.

Recently, Hollywood insider Daniel Richman shared on his Patreon that three child actors have been identified for these key roles. However, their names have not been disclosed yet, and these actors are expected to be relatively young and not widely recognized.

Richman reports on Hollywood gossip without guaranteed confirmation, so this information remains speculative. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be surprising if HBO has concluded their search for the trio at this stage. The casting process initiated in 2024 as HBO received tens of thousands of auditions, reviewing around 1,000 each day, specifically seeking children aged 9 to 11 from the UK or Ireland. Given that this process has been ongoing for several months, it’s plausible that they have found their leads by now.

In the previous Harry Potter films, the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione were famously portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, significantly impacting their careers. Whoever lands these roles may experience a similar transformation. There’s also a sense of nostalgia for the early 2000s Harry Potter films when the series was at the height of its popularity.

As for the premiere of this new Harry Potter series, some fans are hoping for a debut in 2026; however, since casting is still underway, a more likely launch date could be in 2027.
