A woman who was injured while exiting the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios Hollywood has been awarded $7.25 million by a federal judge in downtown Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained on Monday.

Pamela Morrison, a 74-year-old resident of Arizona, received $250,000 for economic damages, $2 million for past non-economic damages, and $5 million for future non-economic damages, following a trial that concluded on February 14.

The judge determined that Universal Studios was liable for Morrison’s severe spine injury, which occurred after she was instructed to leave the ride due to a malfunctioning harness. She lost her footing while stepping off the moving ride and fell. Evidence presented in the federal court indicated that she fell to the ground.

Universal’s legal team contended that Morrison was at fault for her fall, claiming she was not attentive to her surroundings.

According to court records, Morrison sustained a broken hip and muscle injuries in her hip, which have severely affected her mobility and stability. She testified that she has been unable to maintain her previously active lifestyle.

Attempts to reach representatives from Universal Studios after regular business hours on Monday were unsuccessful.
