The cast of the Harry Potter films is often celebrated, with many feeling nostalgia for how well the actors embodied their roles. However, casting for potential reboots poses challenges since some actors didn’t completely align with the book descriptions of their characters.

In the early 2000s film series, casting wasn’t straightforward either. For instance, Jason Isaacs, who portrayed Draco Malfoy, originally auditioned for different roles. Likewise, the Weasley twins, James and Oliver Phelps, along with Bonnie Wright (who played Ginny), appeared together at Megacon Orlando, which took place from February 6 to February 9. They enjoyed interacting with all the attendees.

When Oliver Phelps was asked which character he would want to swap roles with, the twins noted that their choices were limited due to their identities as twins. They showcased a strong understanding of their characters, often sharing humorous moments about the Weasley twins doubting Molly’s identity.

As for Wright, her response was intriguingly complex. She expressed a desire to play the villain Bellatrix, highlighting her favorite scene involving Bellatrix and Molly Weasley, which takes place in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” during a moment when Bellatrix attempts to harm Ginny.

Wright, who played Ginny as a child actress, reflected on her experience during filming, noting the fortunate environment that allowed them to grow and act as kids. She elaborated that she is no longer pursuing acting and has learned valuable lessons about co-production. After attending film school, she has shifted her focus away from acting.

Bonnie Wright Could Portray Bellatrix in a Future Harry Potter Reboot

While Bonnie Wright was too young for the role of Bellatrix in the past, at 33 she is now old enough to assume the character in an impending Harry Potter reboot. In the series, Bellatrix is in her mid-40s by the final film, and stepping into the shoes of Helena Bonham Carter, who perfectly embodied the character, presents its own challenges.

Wright previously stated that she isn’t keen on a role in the new series but hopes for a richer character arc for Ginny, who she feels was underdeveloped in the films. Although there’s been no official announcement regarding the cast for the Harry Potter reboot, filming is anticipated to commence this summer, with a projected release in 2026 on HBO Max.
