On February 25, actor John Lithgow informed Screenland that he had received an offer to play Dumbledore. He expressed surprise at the offer and shared that he was at the Sundance Film Festival when he received the call. He described the decision as challenging, given the significance of the role in his life, especially with so much interest in Harry Potter.
However, HBO later clarified that this offer had not been officially confirmed. They acknowledged that a high-profile series like this will naturally provoke rumors and speculation, adding that they focus on details only after finalizing agreements during pre-production.
Previous reports from Variety also mentioned that HBO is considering actor Mark Rylance for the role of the headmaster at Hogwarts, but this information has yet to be officially verified.
