Warner Bros. has elicited an unusual reaction regarding rumors that Chillian Murphy is being considered for the role of Lord Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter series.
During an interview with Deadline, Channing Dungey, the Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros., addressed the casting speculation surrounding Voldemort.
Since the announcement of the Harry Potter series two years ago, fans have been eager to see their favorite actors in the revamped versions.
One of the top choices among fans for the TV series is the Oppenheimer star, who portrayed the antagonist in the film.
When questioned about the rumors, Dungey stated, “We have no comments or confirmations to make.”
He emphasized that a decision about Voldemort has not yet been reached, adding, “We’re still evaluating various options, so we’re not there yet. That role is still open.”
Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning actor has garnered support not only from fans but also from Ralph Fiennes, who originally portrayed the Dark Lord.
In a previous appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Fiennes expressed his endorsement for Murphy, praising him as a “fantastic actor and a great choice” for the role.
The Harry Potter television series is set to commence production this summer at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, UK.
