Tahoshi is experiencing a rather unfortunate conclusion. The game’s Early Access launch broke player count records on PC, yet Multiversus went offline in June 2023 and struggled to recapture its original audience when it returned a year later. Over the past nine months, the game has faced difficulties in maintaining connections with even its most devoted fans due to ongoing issues with monetization and gameplay.
On January 31st, Warner Bros. announced that the fifth season of Multiversus would be its last, leading to the game’s discontinuation and shutdown in late May. Recently, WB revealed it was closing down its game development studio, a move that has been quite disappointing. This closure feels particularly heartbreaking since Season 5 introduced highly anticipated gameplay updates. The inevitable end of Multiversus also means that numerous leaked characters will never make it to the game’s roster.
The character list below compiles various leaks from August 2022 to December 2024. It’s important to note that the list of potential Multiversus characters is constantly changing, so many of those mentioned may have only surfaced a few times through different leakers.
DC made a significant investment in the Multiversus character lineup, featuring nine DC characters in its fifth and final season, including staples like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, as well as others like Harley Quinn, The Joker, Raven, and Aquaman. However, there were additional leaked characters expected to join the game, such as Robin, Poison Ivy, and Static Shock.
Despite Warner Bros. owning several major franchises, the inclusion of movie-related fighters was surprisingly limited. One notable absence was Harry Potter, which, given its significance as a large intellectual property for Warner Bros., was unexpected. Leaks have suggested that Harry and Ron Weasley were set to appear alongside characters inspired by other films such as Godzilla, Mad Max, and The Matrix.
Warner Bros. also possesses a wide array of popular television franchises, yet not every beloved character made it into Multiversus. A few characters from animates series and classic TV shows did join the roster, but many iconic figures, such as those from “Rick and Morty,” “Scooby Doo,” and “Game of Thrones,” were rumored but never materialized in the game.
While the absence of these leaked characters may stem from various challenges, including licensing issues and gameplay considerations, it remains disheartening to realize that they will not appear in Multiversus.
