Amazon MGM Studios announced on Tuesday that the producers for the upcoming James Bond films will be the same individuals behind the “Spider-Man” and “Harry Potter” franchises.

Last month, Amazon gained full creative oversight of the Bond franchise, and the appointment of David Heyman and Amy Pascal marks the initial move in a plan to renew it.

The producers are anticipated to significantly influence the selection of the director and the production schedule for the new film.

Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM Studios’ film president, stated that the two producers “offer storytelling for a global audience that supports the perfect legacy of this beloved character.”

Pascal, who previously worked on several “Spider-Man” films, including the recent live-action version featuring Tom Holland, comes from a background at Sony Pictures, one of Hollywood’s leading studios.

She is already familiar with the Bond series, having been involved in the release of 007 films “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” and “Skyfall” during her time at Sony.

Heyman, a British producer, was responsible for all eight film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, along with other films such as “Barbie,” “Gravity,” and “Paddington.”

Following this announcement, there will likely be increased speculation about who will take on the role of James Bond, one of cinema’s most iconic characters.

The 25th Bond film, “No Time To Die,” which marked Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, was released in 2021 and grossed $775 million.

Currently, names like Theo James, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are in the mix as potential contenders for the role.

In 2022, Amazon secured distribution rights to the extensive Bond franchise from MGM. However, it wasn’t until last month that full creative control was attained after reaching an agreement with veteran Bond producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, with the deal finalized on Monday.

The Broccoli family has been dedicated to protecting the franchise since the release of “Dr. No” in 1962, resisting spin-offs and licensing opportunities to maintain the integrity of the Bond character and brand.

In a joint statement, Pascal and Heyman expressed their gratitude to be following in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, recognizing the legacy of the many incredible films they have created.
