Warwick Davis has been involved in the film industry since he was just 11 years old, a time when students his age were attending Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. He has portrayed several characters in both the Harry Potter series and the Star Wars franchise.

On February 16th, Davis was honored with the Fellowship Award, BAFTA’s highest accolade, in recognition of his extensive career. Prior to receiving the award on stage, he was celebrated by his co-stars from Harry Potter and alumni from Star Wars. Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy, presented the award, while Mark Hamill, famously known as Luke Skywalker, shared heartfelt tributes.

In a speech posted online by the Spanish outlet 20minutos, Felton reflected on Davis’s lasting impact: “Last week, Warwick celebrated his 55th birthday. He made his film debut at 11 and has rarely been absent from our screens since then. I want to emphasize his immense talent, dedication, and likable nature.” He elaborated on their professional relationship, recalling how their paths crossed when Felton, at 12, came to Hogwarts, where Davis, playing Professor Filius Flitwick, taught him his very first spell, Wingardium Leviosa.

Felton admitted, “I’m not great at this,” but went on to praise Warwick’s dedication and how he made the experience enjoyable. Warwick also received praise from Mark Hamill, who noted him as “one of the hardest-working actors in the business,” even joking that Davis had more appearances in Star Wars than he did. George Lucas also recognized Davis as a “great actor.”

During his acceptance speech, Davis expressed, “This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. And I was part of Star Wars, sorry Tom.” He also reflected on the loss of his wife last year, expressing gratitude to his “wonderful children” for helping him find “laughter and love again.”
