Rupert Grint has expressed his willingness to reprise his role as Ron Weasley, provided that certain conditions are met. This has fueled excitement among Harry Potter fans about the possibility of a future reunion. The 34-year-old actor is known for his portrayal of Ron, a beloved character in the film series. Grint first played Ron as an 11-year-old in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and last portrayed him in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” in 2011.

Although many cast members reunited for an HBO special in 2021, fans long for a return of Harry, Hermione, Ron, and others to the big screen. Grint’s comments echo discussions surrounding Daniel Radcliffe’s potential return, but it seems that Radcliffe may have moved beyond the role of Harry Potter.

In January 2023, while promoting his thriller film on ITV’s “This Morning,” Grint was asked about returning to the wizarding world. He indicated a strong connection to Ron, stating, “If the timing was right, I think everyone would come back. That character is very meaningful to me; I’m also looking out for him. That character defined my childhood.”

Grint elaborated that he appreciates the pivotal role he played, and while he is open to bringing Ron back “in some form,” this requires a lot of collaboration with other key actors, including Emma Watson and Radcliffe, along with other cast members like Tom Felton and Helena Bonham Carter. Sadly, some original cast members, such as Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman, are no longer alive.

Regarding the future, Radcliffe hinted in early 2023 that any new project would need to find a way to age the characters appropriately, but he doesn’t believe it’s essential to physically pass the torch, indicating a degree of uncertainty regarding the franchise’s continuation. Fans will have to stay tuned for any developments on this front.
