The eagerly awaited Brazilian version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was set to debut in Sao Paulo this year, has been postponed indefinitely, as reported by the Rolling Library.
In an official statement to the Rolling Library, the production team explained that they faced “a significant challenge beyond our control,” leading to the tough decision to halt the preparations for the Brazilian show.
“Despite our best efforts, we regret to announce that the production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Brazil has been postponed indefinitely,” stated a spokesperson for the production. “We have always held Brazilian fans in high regard and were eager to share the magic with them. Unfortunately, the unforeseen challenges are hindering us from commencing production at the level of quality we aim for.”
The statement also mentioned the conclusion of the partnership with local producer Vinícius Munhoz Entretenimento (VME). “Consequently, we made the difficult choice to part ways with our local producer, VME,” added the spokesperson.
The announcement indicates that the acclaimed play is still set to come to Brazil in 2025, just a few months after the December 2024 report, when VME had established an official website to keep fans updated on production. This news is disappointing for many fans eager to experience the stage magic, but the spokesperson has indicated that there could still be hope.
