John Lithgow expressed surprise at a recent development in his career, revealing that he was approached while attending the Sundance Film Festival. He mentioned that deciding to take on this role was challenging, as it would significantly impact the final stages of his life. He noted that people’s attention was primarily on “Harry Potter,” which complicated his decision.

At 79 years old, Lithgow remarked on the weight of the decision, humorously stating he felt “about 87 at the rap party,” but ultimately agreed to join the project. While confident about his casting, he acknowledged that HBO has yet to officially confirm his role, and details remain sparse as the production progresses.

In an interview with Collider, Lithgow referred to the role as a “great winding role” and expressed enthusiasm about the project. He also confirmed that he would use an English accent for his character, emphasizing the importance of authenticity. Lithgow shared his experience with dialect coaching after portraying figures like Roald Dahl and Winston Churchill, saying he was welcomed by his British colleagues on “The Crown,” which boosted his confidence.

Although no other cast members have been officially announced, speculation suggests that adaptations of the seven “Harry Potter” books are in the works, generating mixed feelings among fans. There have been rumors regarding new castings, including Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and discussions about the role of Rubeus Hagrid.

Regarding the involvement of original stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, Radcliffe mentioned he might have a cameo but isn’t actively seeking a role in the series. He expressed his support for the new generation taking over the beloved franchise.

The upcoming “Harry Potter” series is set to stream on Max, and fans can stay updated through various fantasy coverage and TV guides.
