New Delhi: HBO is aiming to capture the enchantment of the Harry Potter film series with its upcoming adaptation. However, a key question remains: will the original cast return for the television show? HBO executive Sara Aubrey addressed this topic. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, she expressed the desire to seek out new talent for the Harry Potter series. Aubrey remarked that many British actors consider it a dream opportunity, but the casting presently focuses on newcomers rather than former stars. She emphasized the importance of adapting the books faithfully.

Aubrey noted that there is significant interest from a wide pool of actors eager to join the project. She also stated her intention to avoid repeating the original film cast. According to her, the challenge lies in how audiences might associate characters with specific actors, but the adaptation’s eight-hour format allows for a different portrayal.

Deadline reports that filming for the Harry Potter series is set to begin this summer, with speculations that notable actors like Sharon Hogan, Brett Goldstein, Mark Strong, and Paapa Ecuadu may take on key roles such as McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, and Dumbledore. The casting call has indicated that the parts of Harry, Hermione, and Ron will be for actors aged between 9 and 11 years. In the original film series, Daniel Radcliffe portrayed Harry Potter, Emma Watson played Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint acted as Ron Weasley.
