The Harry Potter series undeniably features a plethora of intriguing characters rooted in its enchanting lineage, which can make deciphering their family connections quite complex. Fortunately, dedicated fans have uncovered some new insights about Harry and other characters.

In the meantime, viewers can watch the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II below! However, the information presented may not be something most of us would have sought out or appreciated. According to Matthewlauder from R/Harrypotter, it turns out that Harry and his eventual wife, Ginny Weasley, are actually related.

Matthew commented, “I’m bored. Harry and Ginny are double cousins.” This unexpected claim was supported by a hand-drawn family tree he created, illustrating their relation. Relying on details from the books and the official Pottermore website, Matthew pieced together this family tree while acknowledging that some assumptions were necessary.

He mentioned, “Yes, I made two assumptions. Henry Potter is the unnamed son of Charles Potter and Drea Black.” He also clarified that double cousins differ from second cousins: while second cousins share great-grandparents, double cousins are related in two distinct ways. “And that’s not incest. In fact, the average relationship between married couples in America is seventh cousins,” he added.

So, there’s nothing alarming here, but it’s certainly fascinating information for die-hard fans. User Nitasu987 echoed this sentiment, stating, “It always amazes me how interconnected everyone in Harry Potter is.” It must have been odd for Harry to discover his links to not only Ron and Neville but also to Malfoy. But does this change how we understand blood relations in the magical realm?

It seems that the Harry Potter cast certainly favors keeping things within the family!
