The Harry Potter Film Concert Series is set to return to Miller Auditorium, featuring Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second film in the franchise.
On Saturday, June 7th, conductor Benjamin Phelps will lead the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra in a live performance of John Williams’ score for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, synchronized with a high-definition screening of the movie on a 40-foot screen.
This concert series is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and CineConcerts, marking the official global concert tour dedicated to the Harry Potter films. Since the inaugural concert for Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone in 2016, over 3 million fans have attended, with plans for nearly 3,000 performances in more than 48 countries by 2025.
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, many fantastical events unfold as Harry returns to Hogwarts for his second year. He faces flying cars, aggressive trees, and eerie warnings as texts hint at dark events. To protect Hogwarts, Harry, Ron, and Hermione must rely on their magical skills and bravery.
The film features a Grammy-nominated score by John Williams, known for its enchanting themes that enhance the magical experience of the story.
Justin Freer, president of CineConcerts and the producer/conductor of the series, emphasizes that audiences get to enjoy the beloved films alongside the live orchestral performances.
