John Lithgow gives a final talk on his iconic role in HBO’s Harry Potter Reboot series

The upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot is scheduled to begin filming this summer, with rumors about the cast continuing for months. Now it seems fans are ready to find out who will take over their beloved character.

With each deadline, six-time Emmy-winning actor John Lithgow is approaching a deal to portray Professor Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter adaptation. This character is one of the franchise’s most beloved characters and serves as a guide to Harry Potter throughout the series. So far, Warner Bros. has refused to confirm the rumors.

The upcoming Harry Potter TV series is said to be a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels. The book series was previously adopted in eight films between 2001 and 2011, with the final book split into two. Future Harry Potter TV shows are designed to run for a decade and “dive into each of the iconic books.” Francesca Gardiner will become author and showrunner, while Mark Mirodo will serve as director and executive producer.

If true, the decision to cast John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore is amazing. The actor was born in New York, USA, and the upcoming Harry Potter series is expected to cast British and Irish actors. At the same time, Lithgow proved his skills in Netflix’s hit historical drama The Crown.

The actor explained the cast in an interview with GQ, highlighting that Crown producers will cast American actors for their relationship with the United States. “I went to a drama school in London years ago, so there’s this kind of English thread. I’m as English as American actors can pretend to be pure.” The actor pointed out. The two-time Oscar nominee received a BAFTA nomination for his role in the Crown, winning Emmy for his portrayal of Churchill.

Previous rumors suggest that Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance is one of his favourites to play Albus Dumbledore, both of whom performed with British man Mark Strong.

Professor Albus Dumbledore was played by several British actors

Professor Albus Dumbledore is one of the characters who played multiple actors at various stages of his life. Dumbledore is considered the most powerful wizard, and is the only fear of Dark Wizard Voldemort. He previously defeated former villain Gellert Grindelwald in a big duel, and won him the Elder Wand.

In the Harry Potter film, Dumbledore was played by the late actors Richard Harris and Michael Gambon. Harris took on the role in the first two installments before he passed away, with Gambon taking over the rest of the series. In the spin-off prequel series Fantastic Beasts, Juderow played the younger version of the character.
