Daisy Ridley grew up as a Harry Potter fan, but she has no interest in appearing in television adaptations. Ridley is best known for playing Ray in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and is currently preparing to re-start his role in upcoming follow-up films. She has also appeared in a variety of small films, including Young Woman and The Sea (2024). The casting process for Harry Potter was underway, and there was speculation that Ridley could stick himself to the project.

Despite the rumors, Ridley is not interested in joining Harry Potter. ScreenRant existed in the Q&A where Collider screened her new film, “Cleaner,” where Ridley shot straight away the idea. She loves the franchise, but has no interest in taking over the roles of other actors and has no time to spend with the franchise. She also recognizes the pressures that are placed on production, and is not particularly interested in giving birth to it. Check out her quote below:

Honestly, I didn’t ask to be part of it because I do…their performances are so incredible that it’s going to take on one of those roles I feel very scary. But, I mean, it’s a huge commitment to time, but in reality I love movies. I love performance. And I’m really looking forward to seeing what they do with them. But oh my god, the pressure must be very high.

What does Ridley’s rejection mean to Harry Potter?

    This is a 10-year commitment

Ridley is a very well-known actor and still regularly appears in a variety of productions. She has upcoming Star Wars films on the horizon. It is extremely difficult to surrender yourself to another well-known role, especially as it is intended to be a decade of commitment. If Ridley was involved, there could be a need for several production halts to allow her to manage her twin duties. It could be too easy for an actor.

Ridley does not need to sign such a broad obligation.

What’s more, Ridley has already experienced overwhelming pressure from her Star Wars job. If she believes that Harry Potter’s show is overwhelming, then there’s a good reason to believe her. She’s probably more familiar with how to handle that pressure than anyone else. There are many other Hollywood stars who need opportunities to improve their profiles through the show. Ridley doesn’t need to sign such a broad obligation if she is an integral part of the franchise already underway.

Our view on Ridley’s refusal to join Harry Potter

This is best for Harry Potter and Ridley

This will likely be the right move for both parties. HBO is looking for an actor who is willing to commit to filming for 10 years. And Ridley doesn’t have time. She has expressed her love for the franchise, but she makes the right decision by stepping completely. Ridley can focus on projects that don’t involve trying to accommodate the legendary previous performance. Instead, she can settle for indie films, the release of new Star Wars, and other things that smash her. Harry Potter may not have Ridley, but that’s a good thing.
