Harry Potter Star Jason Isaacs Shares Unusual Fan Encounter
Jason Isaacs, known for his role in the Harry Potter franchise, recounts a bizarre fan encounter where he had to ask a woman to cover herself after she requested his autograph on her chest. The film series, adapted from J.K. Rowling’s books, launched in 2001 with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone" and concluded with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" in 2011. Isaacs portrayed Lucius Malfoy, the stern father of Draco and a follower of Voldemort, appearing in several of the films.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Isaacs described the incident at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Universal Orlando, where a fan approached him with a rather bold request. He recalled that while they were enjoying the heat and taking photos, the woman suddenly asked if he would sign her breasts, exposing herself. Isaacs was taken aback and politely requested that she cover up, stating, “I have kids everywhere.” To his surprise, her response was that she had eight children of her own.
Isaacs reflected on the extremes of fandom, mentioning his experiences with obsessive fans, including stalkers and troubling encounters that have involved police intervention. Despite the darker side of fandom, his story underscores the lasting affection audiences have for the Harry Potter series, even 24 years after its first film was released. Although the recent films related to the franchise did not fare as well, the original series continues to hold a special place in pop culture.
As the Harry Potter universe prepares for a television adaptation on HBO, Isaacs’ experiences highlight the need for new actors joining the franchise to be aware of potential extreme fan interactions. His portrayal of Lucius Malfoy was a significant part of the films, showcasing the character’s depth and complexity, indicating that while fan enthusiasm can sometimes cross the line, it also stems from a foundational love for the series.
