Dobby, a character recognized widely thanks to his role in the Harry Potter films, was voiced by Toby Jones, who received a BAFTA 14 years after the series concluded. One user on X noted that Jones, who played a villainous character in Sherlock, made a memorable impact with Dobby.
Jones’s portrayal of Calberon Smith, a wealthy benefactor hiding dark secrets in the BBC series, was also highlighted. In 2021, he was honored with an OBE. Fans have been vocal about their astonishment that Arnim Zola, his character in the Marvel franchise, and Dobby share the same voice, prompting comments about Jones’s versatility. At 58, Jones is particularly remembered for his nuanced performances, especially as the conflicted Dr. Zola in Captain America.
Recently, he appeared in Mr. Bates v. Post Office, portraying Alan Bates, a former subpostmaster advocating for victims of a postal scandal. Despite his diverse roles, his work as Dobby remains iconic, with the elf featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Dobby, a devoted house-elf serving the Malfoy family, displayed fierce loyalty and was tragically killed in Harry Potter’s arms.
